Public Training Opportunities in Tuscaloosa

Are you interested in severe storms, firefighting, police work, or emergency response? Tuscaloosa County EMA and the Alabama Fire College will be conducting CERT+ classes again this fall. In this class you will learn basic fire safety, first aid, disaster response, and much more.

Tuesday, March 7, 2017 - The National Weather Service storm spotter class will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017. In this class, you will learn about basic storm structure, what to look for in severe storms, and how to report what you see to the National Weather Service and to EMA. The session will be held from 6-8:30 PM at the Alabama Fire College and is FREE to the public. Current CERT+ students do not need to register.

Ham Radio Technician Licensing Class
Anyone interested in getting a Ham radio license is invited to attend an upcoming training class beginning April 6, 2017 and continuing each Thursday night through May 11, 2017. Classes will be held at the West Alabama Red Cross office (1622 Lurleen Wallace Blvd, Northport, AL 35476). Each class will begin at 6:30 PM and last through 8 PM. The class will conclude with a license test on Friday, May 19th. Registration is not necessary - but be sure to get your contact information in at one of the below options to get updates about classes!
