Pickens County Unmet Needs Committee to Host Benefit Dinner

The Pickens County Unmet Needs Committee is hosting a benefit dinner to raise funds for continued work in the tornado recovery in the Sapps community. On February 2, 2016, an EF-2 tornado swept through areas of Pickens County, Alabama. While there thankfully were no fatalities or serious injuries, the damage to homes suffered by the community was significant. Many homes were a total loss or were left uninhabitable and the majority of displaced households did not have insurance. A lot of progress has been made in the community, but there is still much to be done.
The benefit dinner will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at 6 PM at the Aliceville City Hall. Tickets are being sold in advance of the event. A ticket to the dinner will cost $20 per person attending, or a table, which seats eight people, can be bought for $150. A sponsorship is available for $500 for those interested in sponsoring the event. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Aliceville City Hall at (205) 373-6611. All proceeds from the dinner will go toward continuing recovery in the Sapps community and supporting tornado survivors.
